Perthshire – A historical area with plenty to see
Perthshire is a large county centrally located in Scotland and has rich agricultural straths in the east and high mountains in the southern Highlands.
Perthshire has witnessed many events in Scotland’s history, some involving Royalty and battles, and others poets and artists. There are many reminders of these past times, including castles, churches, battlefields and sites of historic interest.
Archaeologists have uncovered evidence of Stone Age farmers, including Roman garrisons and Iron Age Forts.
A number of famous people are connected with Perthshire. The actor Ewan McGregor was born there and Stephen Hendry MBE now lives in the small town of Auchterarder (although he was born in Edinburgh).
