The area of Scotland that is comprised of the county of Berwickshire is often referred to as Borders. This name comes from both its location on the border of England and the council area to which it belongs. The name is appropriate as this area of Scotland has had a rocky history with many battles being fought over the land that exists there. The original county town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed was lost to England in 1482 leaving the town of Duns to take over the administrative duties. However, even with its turbulent past, Berwickshire has much to offer current travellers. From castles to nature to the beach, there is not much you cannot find in this county. The tourist locations stay that way because of the abundance of things to see and do while on holiday.
