Ayrshire, Scotland- Farming the Shores
Ayrshire sits along the shore of the Firth of Clyde and has one unique quality. It is among the most fertile regions of Scotland when it comes to agriculture. This leaves farmers growing toot vegetables, pork, cattle and berries on the coastal areas of the county. Even so, that is not what defines this area often called the County of Ayr. Instead it is the history of the land combined with the aircraft and aviation industry that makes it stand out. Regardless of the fact that Ayrshire is so fertile and has so much industry, the unemployment is still significantly higher than the other portions of Scotland. This is why tourism can help the industry so much. With such a variety of things to offer holiday travellers, it is no surprise that people want to visit.
Reasons to Visit Ayrshire
Like most places in Scotland the history of the county tends to draw in those holiday travellers. With a number of castles, including Auchenharvie Castle which has been a ruin since the 1770s and the Barony & Castle of Giffen. There are also a number of museums that visitors tend to find interesting such as the Ayrshire Country Life and Costume. Four hundred hectares of land and wildlife will meet you at the Eglinton Country Park. Spend some time in the Cleeves Cove Caves and then get a history of the Vikings at Vikinggar.
Entertainment and Dining in Ayrshire
The Malt Cross serves two purposes. It transforms from a well-liked restaurant during the day into a popular bar at night. With a diner and a bar there is something on the menu to make everyone happy. Many bars open at night so that you can take in some of the scenery.
Accommodations in Ayrshire
Finding the ideal arrangements is not difficult once you know what you want. If you require something simple and quaint then you might like one of the three bedrooms at the One Alloway Retreat.
