The Observer noted luxury hotels in London slashing their prices to compete in an ever-increasing price-led market for hotel chains. As reported previously, budget chains are continuing to see a rise in uptake as travellers choose cheap, affordable quality, over luxury.
Cheap hotels for many means good quality at an affordable price yet mention luxury hotels and the mind conjures up a concierge service, tall sweeping halls and a piano player in the hallway. Whilst many 4 star and 5 star hotels indeed offer this and more in abundance, high-end luxury hotels are feeling the credit pinch and are looking to slash their prices to bring in business; will this affect quality?
We may indeed see a slight shift in quality with many luxury brands deciding on cost-cutting measures whilst many budget hotels up their quality to meet the ‘middle class’ demand for good quality accommodation with a sparkle of affordable luxury!
