Haven holidays released a press statement recently stating an increase in seaside holidays of 4% in 2013 compared to 2012. 4% may not seem a huge number but in a time of austerity and with many holiday providers happy to simply match last year’s sales numbers, 4% growth is an encouraging number for any UK holiday company. The weather this July has provided UK tourism with an unlikely boost with holiday makers bathing in temperatures of nearly 35 degrees Celsius; on a number of days out performing areas of Spain and other hot European destinations.
Haven holidays also reported an uplift in traffic by 33% during 2 weeks in July and here at UK Short Breaks Deals we can certainly attest to that, with out own traffic figures increasing by some 50% as the heatwave has hit, further affirming the clear benefits the upturn in weather is providing to UK tourism. Neil Davies, commercial manager for Haven said “Currently every minute someone is booking a break for the school summer holidays and we have seen an increase in the demand for short breaks”. That is a staggering number of people looking to take advantage of favourable holidaying conditions, without the need to fuss around airports and booking cheap flights to short-haul European destinations. It has been said on many an occasion that the only thing missing from the UK is good weather. The sunshine certainly brings out the UK’s natural beauty despite the fact many of us are as ill-equipped to handle the heat as we are snow!
Neil went on to say “It’s not just our seaside locations that are attracting families it’s the quality and value of our product with free kids clubs and family entertainment included in the price. In a recent survey of 14,000 customers 9/10 said their holiday was great value for money”.
