Visit England have just released figures from their Summer Trip Tracker which reveals that 21% of Brits are planning to take a holiday in the UK this summer.  This means that more people will be holidaying in Britain than abroad and there are a further 22% of people who are yet to make their mind up whether they are holidaying at all. That’s another 10.8 million Brits who might decide to swell the numbers. The reasons for their indecision has been the weather but that’s getting better all the time, their financial situation or people who are waiting to see what last minute offers are available.

For the latter two groups there are some great offers available lots of holiday companies have got behind the 20.12% discount campaign and others have extended their summer sales because of the bad weather. So Butlins are offering an extra £45 off in their summer sale, Haven are offering family holidays from only £269 which is a saving of over £200 on the brochure price. Similarly the independent holiday let sector are also offering great deals Blue Chip holidays in Devon have a range of luxury apartments and cottages all around the south coast with some properties offering up to 20% off for late bookings and to fill cancellations so there are always bargains to be had.

If you are considering having days out then you can save money by booking your tickets in advance on line, some companies like Alton Towers even allow you to print your tickets out yourself so you can avoid the queues to go in. Other companies like Legoland Windsor and Thorpe Park are encouraging people to stay over in local hotels by offering a second day around the park for free when you buy a hotel package.

If just half of those who have yet to make up their minds booked a UK holiday that could put an additional six million pounds into the UK economy which in these difficult times would be a welcome boost. This year is make or break for many smaller companies so why not support UK businesses and enjoy a staycation. Take the time to explore the internet find cheap fun things to do, look for great offers, sign up for alerts there are lots of things that you can do to keep the price of your holiday down. If you usually book a holiday by the pool in Spain you may be pleasantly surprised by the many different experiences a UK holiday can offer, why not make 2012 the year you try it?
